Ancestors & Lily of the Valley
3 hr Workshop: May 4th 2025 2:30-5:30 PM
Located at the Quarry Arts Building
715 Hill Street, Madison WI, 53705
About The Class:
Come, remember the old ways and learn to be in relationship with the beloved Ancestors and Nature.
Many who love folk magic, plants, nature, folklore, the seasons, creative practice, and story might feel somewhat alienated by the current society, or feel like something deeply important is missing. If you feel this way, you might find solace in connecting with the beloved dead and those who have gone before, as their ways might feel familiar or feel like coming home.
This workshop will focus on how to connect with and be in relationship with beneficial Ancestors. The information in this class is primarily from the Trolldom tradition (Nordic folkways) and the British folk traditions. The class will be part lecture and part practice. As a group, we will connect to different Ancestors using a scrying method, then we will do a group trance with the plant Lily of the Valley. The plant work component of this class is meant to initiate the student into working with Lily of the Valley as an ally in working with the dead, nature spirits, as well as plants to assist with processing grief.
This class will not extensively cover healing for unwell Ancestors, though we will touch on it. If you would like to learn how, feel free to reach out for private lessons.
In the workshop, we will cover:
-
How to communicate with Ancestors and beneficial spirits of the dead
-
Practices to awaken the Ancestors
-
Tomte and Vard träd: House spirits and Guardian Trees
-
Asking Ancestors for help and assistance in life
-
